Storyline, simple as that. If it wasnt already known that the Blade wins out and Salma becomes queen, it would be okay to choose, but since it is already determined, it makes sense to put them as hostile.
Not to mention the fact they hate our guts for killing their inner council and revealing their gods to be fake

Lets see...
You killed Justiciar Hablion.
You helped the shining blade gain a stronghold in the maguuma and killed the demagoge.
You stole the septer of Orr to give it to the Lich.
You freed the captured Shining Blade members, including their leader Evennia in the Southern Shiverpeaks.
You killed some Mursaat.
You freed another SB spy.
You killed Markis.
You killed Confessor Dorian.
You killed the Inner Circle/3 remaining founding members.
You stormed the Mursaat stronghold, killing a great many of them, including some of their leaders.
You freed the titans, who in turn killed off most of the remaining Mursaat.+
Last but not least you hurt/injured Lazarus the Dire, one of the few remaining survivors.
And now you wanna ally with them?
Yeah, right, ever wondered exactly what that Eggnog was Spiked with?

That assumes you actually did that instead of just saying "who cares if they kill few peasants on bloodstone (i am going to play factions and nf, cyas)"

Dont you almost have to have done some of that though? (I guess you could have completed EotN instead - but likely did some of them to get to the fire islands....)

Really, I'd hope we wouldn't be shoe horned into siding with the Shining Blade...
Who was so foolish that they were fooled/infiltrated by both the White mantle and the evil Lich bent on world domination? Why, those clever folks in the Shining Blade...
Who was it that decided to hand over the artifact that the evil Lich bent on world domination needed to complete his nefarious plans? Again, those awesome Shining Blade people...
Who was it that was trying to thwart the Lich's undead minions and keep the staff from falling into the hands of the undead? Why, it was the brave White mantle... we all saw the cut scene, brave Mantle soldiers selling their lives dearly so the Scepter of Orr could be whisked away from the undead hordes.
Who was it that kept watch over the Door of Komalie, thwarting the evil Lich's plans by keeping it sealed, and thus protecting ALL OF TYRIA? Oh, those White Mantle folks and their 'unseen' gods. And who were the idiots that fought through those protections and tore the door open? Oh yes, the heroes of the Shining Blade
The White Mantle represent a necessary evil, the Shining Blade represent an incompetent and bumbling but no less dangerous evil.
And since when was a hereditary monarchy a good thing? Why would anybody support their fight to put an illegitimate heir on the throne, that's assuming the only evidence of her royal claim (some flimsy documents 'discovered' by a loyal Shining Blade member) is indeed genuine...
The Shining Blade are nothing more than terrorists trying to foist their choice of puppet dictator onto the throne of Kryta, of course, being as incompetent as they are they'll probably manage to screw that up as well, hopefully all of Tyria won't be at risk of destruction this time...

I note that you are from Australia......
On topic - The characters you play in GW are baddies to a certain extent, or maybe 'anti-heroes' would be a better way of putting it. You do bad things to achieve a good end result (like freeing Palawa Joko in NF). Yes, you kill the mursaat and open the door of komalie, but you were deceived by the vizier/lich, and in fairness when the deception is revealed the first thing you do is set out to kill the lich and stop the titans. It should also be noted that the mantle were on a mission to kill chosen (to stop the flameseeker prophecy from concluding)....if the mantle had discovered that your character is one of the chosen, I'm sure they would have happily killed you on the maguuma bloodstone.

Shining Blade Camp Cinematic
According to the wiki, on the 9th of April a cinematic was added to the Shining Blade Camp.
I didn't see this cinematic when I went there, I just saw the Shining Blade Scout talking to Salma about the attack on Nebo Village.
Anyone have any ideas?

Ah, enjoying these updates so far - wonder what the end result will be.
Also enjoyed murdering the peacekeepers; they didn't do such a great job.
Makes me glad I already VQ'd all these areas though.

Rebuttals:
Besides the fact that the Lich had everyone fooled if the Shining blade were so incompetent why did the White Mantle feel the need to infiltrate them in the first place?
As above, the Lich had everyone fooled. I would probably believe had the Blade not been about the Lich under he guise of Vizar Khilbron would have convinced the Mantle to hand it over anyway.
This slightly continues on below, but how does 'their brave sacrifice' redeem the slaughter of innocents at the request of their false-god masters? How does it redeem them from the deception of leading the chosen to their fate and fooling everyone else as to what happens to them?
More like who was it sitting on their ass, not really doing anything except sacrificing others to keep that door shut rather than actually doing something permanent about it. The heros did the world a favour by fixing the problem rather than putting a bandaid on it every now and then
Necessary evil? Given the falsehood shown of the Mursaat's god-status, and thus the claim to rule the Mantle had, I see them as far from necessary. Even thick-headed Addledbern (in his present state) is a better choice than the Mantle. While the Blade have fumbled a couple of times, they are easily the better choice
And a tyrannical order of religious zealots serving false gods is better? I would take an illegitimate claim to the throne any day over a bunch of repressive zealots who have an even more false claim to power (makes me wonder with the Mursaat. If they could push back the Charr, surely they could take on the Titans... The fact that we effectively kill both means we should probably try and claim overlordship of Kryta...)
Puppet dictator? You mean Dorian (or whoever is in charge of the Mantle) is a legitimate dictator? and the repression of the people under the Mantle and tactics used against those that dont follow them isnt a form of terrorism? And seriously, if their gods are 'all-powerful' as they make out, how did they let the undead spread across Kryta in the first place? Truth is, the Mursaat are way more incompetent than the Shining Blade, and they were so on a continental scale.
Give me the Blade over the Mantle any day

I haven't seen any mention of this, but the statue of Dwayna in Nebo Terrace has been destroyed. No Favor at the time I found it, so I couldn't check if the avatar will still respond.

That's normal. When there isn't favor, Dwayna's statue is a pile of rubble on the ground.

Keep your friends close and your enemies closer

Doubt it, the mursaat were calling the shots and they wouldn't let that happen.

Sacrifice a few for the greater good.
More like who was it sitting on their ass, not really doing anything except sacrificing others to keep that door shut rather than actually doing something permanent about it. The heros did the world a favour by fixing the problem rather than putting a bandaid on it every now and then
There isn't really anything permanent to do about it.

I don't see how them calling themselves gods to do with them being necessary. Short and sweet the mantle kept the gates of komale shut which stopped the titans from killing many people. The mantle stepped up to rule because the royal family deserted the throne.
And a tyrannical order of religious zealots serving false gods is better? I would take an illegitimate claim to the throne any day over a bunch of repressive zealots who have an even more false claim to power (makes me wonder with the Mursaat. The titans are far more powerful than the charr, if you can recall they were the ones who gave the charr the power of the searing.

The undead are infinite, living soldiers are not. Its quite easy to see how the undead got out of hand. The mursaat don't care about the humans, their only goal was to keep the gate shut, the undead could do whatever they wanted. Truth is, you're wrong.
Truth be told, they became corrupt as all governments do.
Give me the Blade over the Mantle any day
